Irumyuui is the infertile daughter of the tribal chief living on the rim of the Abyss.

Irumyuui was born special, as she is the only girl among her mother's children. Because of her gender, her mother, including all of her siblings, treated her well.

A female child is more valuable to the tribe than a male child. They can have children who will carry on the lineage from generation to generation.

However, the tribe's special treatment of Irumyuui stopped.

When the tribe examined Irumyuui, it was discovered that she was unable to give birth. She does not have the ability to bear children.

Irumyuui's mother and all of her siblings have never looked at her the same way since.

According to Irumyuui, she was then labeled as a cursed child. When someone is of age in their village, the tribe chief puts ink on their body to imitate the residents of the Golden City.

However, in Irumyuui’s case, the ink of sacrifice has been imprinted on her instead.

When the Ganja Corps arrived at the tribe's abode, Irumyuui was offered the position of guide. After all, she's just another mouth to feed. Thankfully, Vueko sympathized with Irumyuui and took her in.

The Ganja Corps made it to the Golden City thanks to Irumyuui. They were forced to survive and fend for themselves there.

Wazukyan told everyone to make the city their home because they couldn't return to the surface.

Unfortunately, saying it is easier than doing it.

In Made in Abyss, Irumyuui's ultimate wish is to have children. However, a number of events occurred that complicated the outcomes and consequences of her wish.

It all began when Vueko and the others discovered a source of fresh and clean water in the sixth layer. They were all fine at first, but the Ganja Corps became ill in the following days.

Irumyuui, like the others, displayed signs of an unknown illness. From diarrhea stains and fevers to toes that look like melted and hardened lead, it turns out that the water they were drinking wasn't exactly safe for them to drink.

The water came from a melted and solidified dead creature. Furthermore, the water is a living organism in and of itself. Vueko and the others referred to it as "mock water".

Vueko and the others continued to drink the mock water because they had no other option. Despite knowing the risks, they decided to take a chance with their lives.

Belaf and the others discovered an egg-like relic when the food survey team returned, dead. The egg-shaped relic is known as the "Cradle of Desire" by the Interference Units.

The Cradle of Desire, also known as the Wish Granting Egg in layman's terms, is a round relic discovered by one of the food survey teams.

Because it is round, the Interference Units classified it as a relic with the ability to grant wishes.

It is a very powerful relic that should not be touched directly. If someone accidentally touches it, they may be swallowed up along with their wishes, and die as a result.

Accordingly, a juvenile should use the Cradle of Desire. The egg is not suitable for adults because they are motley and complex.

Thereafter, Vueko requested permission from Wazukyan to use it on Irumyuui, who was dying as a result of the side effects of drinking mock water.

As they allow Irumyuui to use the Wish Granting Egg, the Ganja Corps prayed. Irumyuui felt better than ever the next morning. However, she doesn't look or feel the same now that the egg has been implanted in her body.

Irumyuui's body began to change over the next few days. She was also capable of giving birth.

However, Irumyuui gives birth to creatures that are nearly identical to the pet she previously owned in the sixth layer.

Irumyuui gave birth to her children every day. Unfortunately, her babies die immediately because they lack any kind of digestive organ. Worse, Irumyuui was unable to move on from her grief as each of her children died one by one.

For Irumyuui, it became a tragic cycle. Vueko wishes she could stay by her side, but she can't because she, too, was affected by the mock water's side effects.

Vueko and the others would not have survived if Wazukyan did not decide to cook Irumyuui's babies and feed them to the remaining Ganja Corps.

As the plot progresses, it is revealed that Irumyuui and Wazukyan have used three cradles of desire.

The first cradle of desire was used by Irumyuui. She wished to have the ability to give birth. However, it got mixed up with her desire to save the dying village due to the side effects of mock water.

As a result, Irumyuui received her wish in the worst possible way. She was able to have children who were able to cure the symptoms of the mock water disease. However, she literally gave birth just for the sake of the Ganja Corps to have something to eat.

The second cradle of desire served as a replacement for the first. Irumyuui sympathized with Vueko after she became ill, and she also became weaker.

Wazukyan saved Irumyuui by replacing the egg inside her body with a new one. This time, Irumyuui's wish is to stand by Vueko while continuing to give birth to a child who will not die.

Fortunately, both of them recovered. However, the outcomes were disastrous.

To fulfill Irumyuui's wish, she has transformed into a massive blob of flesh, giving birth every day. Some fans believe that when Faputa was born, the second wish was activated.

Wazukyan himself used the third cradle of desire. He eventually wished for a place to live where the Ganja Corps can survive, whatever the cost. This explains Wazukyan's appearance before entering Irumyuui.

As a result, Irumyuui evolved into the village itself. In exchange, she devoured everyone and absorbed the Golden City's power.

Except for Vueko, this caused everyone to turn over a new leaf as they became the village's hollows.
