The internet went absolutely berserk when rumors started circulating online that TheMandalorian's Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni have already found the actor who will play Grand Admiral Thrawn in future Star Wars projects.
We reported last night that Iron Man star Robert Downey Jr. could in fact be jumping ship to the Lucasfilm universe to play arguably one of the most menacing villains in all of Star Wars. A lot of people don't know what to make of the said rumors as they couldn't picture RDJ in the role but hey, to Favreau and Filoni's credit, they have yet to let us down so I'm pretty sure they know what they're doing.
Now, in case you were wondering how Downey would look like as Grand Admiral Thrawn, a new fan art is making the rounds all over social media. We're not quite sure where the image originated, but Studying Star Wars on Instagram shared the epic artwork. The image doesn't actually scream Thrawn but I gotta say, it still works. I believe all the fan skepticism stems from the fact that we've grown accustomed to RDJ playing hero on the big screen and him playing a Thanos-level villain would totally take a lot of getting used to. Personally speaking, I'd love for his Marvel co-star Benedict Cumberbatch to snag the coveted role but again, I have complete faith in Favreau and Filoni.
