Injustice 2 Trailer Shows Shifting Alliances

After teasing fans of the more details for Injustice 2, NetherRealm Studios has released a new trailer that touches on what will be the take-off point of the story of its next game.

Titled The Lines are Redrawn, the new trailer suggests that Injustice 2 will open with the line between hero and villain blurring.

“Savior. Monster. Guardian. Vigilante. The preservation of life so often the justification for taking it. Humans, elevating those that keep guard. Until they watch too close, and the so-called hero condoning the very act he would condemn. Transgressions of the past shape actions to come. As offspring turns into adversary, yesterday’s loss leads to madness. And gods become tyrant becomes outcast becomes dust, as factions dissolve and form, and lust for power enslaves all.”

It doesn’t help that Superman still seems to be on a rampage thanks to the death of pretty much his family with Lois Lane. We’re reminded of what happened in the previous game, wherein Superman has turned dark for what happened, and Batman has become a guard of sorts not only of the world, but also of the hero who used to be his ally.

Everyone is turning against the ones they shouldn’t have been fighting against, such as Robin facing off against Batman and Supergirl and Wonder Woman in their own brawl. We even see a four-way face-off when Batman and Superman arrive on the scene.

Someone is also pulling the strings on what happens to the heroes so that’s another threat we have to look forward to. And as an ender, the developer also teases Darkseid as a preorder bonus.

Finally, the developer has also teased that another gameplay reveal this time for an exclusive character will be held on Jan. 24 via the Injustice Watchtower livestream.

Injustice 2 is coming to the PS4 and Xbox One on May 16.
