When the new trailer for Injustice 2 came out, it felt more like a hero versus hero fight, what with the face-off between Robin and Batman and even a four-way fight with the duo, Wonder Woman, and Supergirl.
And even though we know of a handful of villains coming in, like Gorilla Grodd, Brainiac, Harley Quinn, Atrocitus, and preorder bonus villain Darkseid, two more slots in the roster already have characters to fill them in. WWG reported that DC has officially confirmed that Bane and Poison Ivy will be joining the roster.
How the other villains will figure in the narrative, DC and NetherRealm Studios have yet to confirm. But considering the expansive move that Injustice 2 seems to be gunning for, it may be a resolution of what happened with the first game.
This is because some of the character bios have been updated. For one, The Flash is Barry Allen, who is dealing with the shame of defecting from the Regime. But he may be among the first to get back in action and prove the hero that he once was to face the growing threat.
What's interesting is how the allies for the sides of Batman and Superman may also be fighting amongst themselves. Wonder Woman remains a staunch supporter of Superman's rule. On her bio, Supergirl has also arrived on Earth to protect her family and fight her cousin's enemies. And yet in the trailer, we see a brawl between the two wonder women.
We're looking forward to seeing more reveals and action on Jan. 24. Injustice 2 will arrive in console on May 16.
