The Idol Star Athletics Championships, or ISAC, is gearing up to finally make its most-awaited return.
K-pop fans expressed their excitement to see how athletic the idols are after MBC announced last month that ISAC would come back after three years. It will be the first event in three years as the COVID-19 pandemic affected its broadcast.
Historically, it airs twice a year (during the Lunar New Year holiday and Chuseok, or Korean Thanksgiving holiday).
After a month since the announcement, the network dropped further details about it.

Idol Star Athletics Championships: ISAC Venues Revealed
On June 11, a representative for MBC shared where the events would take place.
It was revealed that the July 30 recording would happen at the MBC Open Hall in Sangam. Meanwhile, the August 1 filming will take place at Goyang Gymnasium.
In the past years, ISAC has already brought K-pop idols and artists to different places across the country, including the Mokdong Stadium, Jamsil Arena, Goyang Gymnasium, Samsan World Gymnasium, and Namdong Gymnasium.
“We're each going to take some time to have fun and experience a lot of things,” Jungkook said. “We promise we will return someday even more mature than we are now.”

ISAC 2022 Broadcast Dates
As part of the Chuseok celebration this year, the representative also gave the exact dates of the broadcast.
According to the insider, the Chuseok special of ISAC will happen for two days, from July 30 to August 1. It will also be the first Idol Star Athletics Championships – Chuseok Special in three years as the supposed 2020 got canceled,
ISAC has not aired events in the past years, although it released several spinoffs.
ISAC 2022 Possible Lineup
Although the statement did not list the artists who would probably join the program, viewers previously predicted the groups and idols who might participate.
The list, so far, includes Treasure, Wei, ONEUS, TXT, Winner, Cypher, Weeekly, Secret Number, Aespa, Kep1er, GHOST9, BTS, NCT, SEVENTEEN, ASTRO, Pentagon, VERIVERY, and VICTON, among others. They are expected to join the ISAC sports under the categories: athletics, e-sports, swimming, and other sports.
As for BTS, it remains unknown whether they would go together to ISAC amid the members’ breaks to focus on individual careers.
