The post-apocalyptic film, I Am Legend, is getting a sequel with Marvel’s Black Panther star Michael B. Jordan starring alongside Will Smith, with the sequel set decades after the original 2007 film.
I Am Legend 2 was announced last year once Will Smith was confirmed to return as Dr. Robert Neville, and though it took a long while for the film to be in development due to Smith’s controversial slap at Chris Rock during the 2022 Oscars, a recent report from Deadline has just reported the first-look deal with Warner Bros. that the sequel is being made alongside Keanu Reeves’ Constantine 2.
While we have yet to see what role Michael B. Jordan was placed in, a new project for the Black Panther villain does wonders for MCU fans. Seeing how brilliant Jordan performed as Killmonger in the Black Panther franchise as well as his directorial debut of Creed III, we can only expect the best from his involvement with I Am Legend 2.

“[I Am Legend 2] will start a few decades later than the first — I’m obsessed with The Last of Us, where we see the world just post-apocalypse, but also after a 20-30-year lapse.” I Am Legend 2’s writer/producer Akiva Goldsman told Deadline.
I Am Legend may have ended with the demise of Will Smith’s character, however, Goldsman continued on to say that the sequel will feature the alternate ending that was closer to the original source material, the 1954 novel bearing the same name written by Richard Matheson.
“We trace back to the original Matheson book, and the alternate ending as opposed to the released ending in the original film.” Goldsman added, “What Matheson was talking about was that man’s time on the planet as the dominant species had come to an end. That’s a really interesting thing to explore.”
I Am Legend 2 is currently still in development. Stay tuned on EpicStream for more updates on this story!
