Hunger Games Prequel Drops First Look at Rachel Zegler as Lucy Gray Baird in The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes


There is little doubt that people are already looking forward to The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. After all, the prequel to the film series based on Suzanne Collins' novels already boasted of a stellar cast led by Rachel Zegler. Now, Lionsgate has shared our first look at Zegler as Lucy Gray Baird and Tom Blyth as Coriolanus Snow.

The new photo was shared by the Lionsgate official website and it appears to be from a photo shoot featuring the two stars. The image, which was taken by Murray Close, shows Rachel Zegler posing with Tom Blyth who has dyed his hair platinum blond for the role of Coriolanus Snow. Check it out below.

It was recently announced that Viola Davis will be joining the cast of The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. The Suicide Squad star will portray the villainous Dr. Volumnia Gaul, the head gamemaker of the 10th annual Hunger Games. Davis is the most recent addition to the already growing cast.

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is based on Suzanne Collins' 2020 novel and will be directed by Francis Lawrence from a screenplay by Michael Arndt. It follows 18-year-old Coriolanus Snow who is assigned to mentor Lucy Gray Baird, the girl tribute from impoverished District 12. When Lucy sings during the reaping ceremony, Snow thinks he might be able to turn the odds in their favor.

The film will also star Peter Dinklage, Jason Schwartzman, and Hunter Schafer. The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is currently scheduled for release on November 17, 2023.
