  • Key Update: Dune: Part Three is officially set for a theatrical release on December 18, 2026.
  • Status: Confirmed streaming platforms.
  • Last Verified: March 18, 2026.
  • Quick Answer: Stream Dune: Part 1 and Part 2 on HBO Max or Hulu with the HBO Max add-on. Dune: Part 3 hits theaters December 18, 2026, likely arriving on streaming platforms by Spring 2027.

Denis Villeneuve’s first foray into epic space opera began with Dune (2021). Based on Frank Herbert’s 1965 novel of the same name, it is the third adaptation of Dune, following David Lynch’s 1984 film and John Harrison’s 2000 miniseries.

The story follows Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) and his noble family, House Atreides, as they are thrust into a war for control of the deadly and inhospitable desert planet Arrakis.

Although the film was released in 2021, there are several ways for viewers to watch it online, either through streaming platforms or by using a top VPN for streaming if the movies are not available in your region.

Where to Watch Dune Online

There are several digital platforms where you can watch the Dune movies, either by streaming, renting, or purchasing:

Streaming Platforms

  • HBO Max — included with subscription
  • Hulu — available with the HBO Max add-on

All movies of the franchise, Dune: Part 1 and Dune: Part 2, are exclusively available to stream on HBO Max, since they are produced by Warner Bros. Pictures, which operates the streaming service.

While Dune: Part 3 is about to premiere on December 18, 2026, it could land on HBO Max, too, and as for its streaming release? The most we can do is base it on how WB plans it from their previous works.

In this case, Dune: Part 1 was released simultaneously in theaters and on HBO Max, while Part 2 premiered on March 1, before landing on the streaming platform approximately 11 weeks later. Dune: Part 3 has no streaming updates yet, but it is possible for the threequel to land sometime between February and March 2027, based on Dune's historical streaming timeline.

Purchase and Renting Options

The possible final installment in Villeneuve’s sci-fi trilogy, set over a decade after the events of Dune: Part Two, is slated for release on December 18, 2026. While Frank Herbert's Dune saga spans six novels, Denis Villeneuve previously revealed that he plans to make only three films, with Dune: Part Three adapting the second novel, Dune Messiah.

Filming for the movie began on July 8 in Budapest, Hungary, and wrapped up by the end of the year. Fortunately, Villeneuve has confirmed that the third film will be his very next project. He said:

  • “I was expecting to do something else before, but frankly, that's the inspiration that came to my mind as I took a break this summer and was going back and finishing the story.”
  • “I was really moved by the way Part Two was received by cinephiles around the world, and I felt an appetite and a desire to see more and a responsibility to finish that story.”

Dune: Part Three features Paul struggling to manage the galactic jihad, a violent holy war waged in his name to cement his rule as emperor.

Despite securing his fate as ruler and marrying Princess Irulan (Florence Pugh), Paul is still loyal to Chani (Zendaya), his concubine, and hopes to have children with the woman he loves. Princess Irulan, however, has her own desires...
