Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Cour 2 is about to begin, which means there are more interesting adventures waiting for Frieren’s party as they head to Aureole. More characters will also be introduced, including Serie, a powerful elven mage. She is known as the living grimoire, but how strong is Serie in Frieren?

Meet Serie, the Golden-Eyed Elven Mage
The official YouTube channel of TOHO Animation revealed a new promotional video for Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Volume 4, which shows new characters from the First-Class Mage Examination in Auberst.
One of them is Serie, the golden-eyed elven mage who also has golden hair. Her striking appearance is fitting for her powerful skills and abilities, as well as her high-ranking position in the Continental Magic Association for Mages.
Similar to Frieren, Serie has lived long enough (1000+ years) to have an ambivalent perspective about humans and their short life span.
She also viewed magic differently, unlike Frieren, who takes joy in the process of acquiring magic.
So far, Serie has earned powerful monikers; some of them include The Great Mage Serie, the Founder of the Continental Magic Association, and the Living Grimoire.
Serie will play an important role in the second cour of Frieren as she stands at the top of the association, capable of passing or failing those who are applying for the title, including Frieren and Fern.
How Strong Is Serie in Frieren?
If you think Frieren is strong, then you haven’t seen Serie or heard any of her feats. Serie is stronger than the Great Mage Flamme, whom we all know is Frieren’s mentor.
At some point, Serie was so close to killing Macht of El Dorado, who is said to be the most powerful Sage of Destruction, if only Lernen didn’t intervene.
For the vast majority, Serie is the only mage closest to being considered the Omnipotent and Omniscient Goddess.
For Serie, on the other hand, magic is only a tool for her to kill her opponents, which explains her strained relationship with Frieren.
What Are Serie’s Powers and Abilities?
As a living grimoire, Serie can use every spell known to humans. She can pull off anything; Frieren or any of her apprentices just need to ask her.
She also has immense mana output, several times greater than her restrained output. She can also conceal her mana, similar to Frieren and Fern, but only a few can detect it.
Even her apprentice, Lernen, failed to detect the instability in her mana, but when Fern managed to do it, she offered her immediate apprenticeship! Her mana concealment is on another level; Flamme couldn’t compare to it.
Most notably, Serie can also use a spell called Fearvelia, which allows her to transfer spells to other mages in the form of a grimoire.
In addition, Serie knows a powerful spell called Mistilziela, capable of reflecting any magic she perceives as a curse.
