Frieren is one of Fall 23’s biggest shows, and fans will be happy to know that it will continue beyond this season. That’s because Frieren Part 2 will premiere early in Winter 2024 following a short hiatus.
As previously announced, this fantasy anime will be a two-cour series with a consecutive release schedule. This means fans can expect more Frieren goodness in the next three months.
The only tradeoff is that fans will need to wait before the second cour airs. Thankfully, it won’t be a long wait.
Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Will Go on a Short Hiatus
Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is Madhouse’s latest anime, which premiered with a two-hour special in late September. Since then, it has become one of the breakout hits of Fall 23 thanks to its unique take on typical fantasy tropes.
Instead of following adventurers on a quest to defeat the Demon Lord, the anime is set decades after a party has successfully vanquished the world’s main villain. This gives the anime a melancholic yet relaxing vibe.
Given that the anime premiered with four episodes, the series is going to air Episode 16 later this week. Following this episode, the anime will go on a short hiatus.
Calling it a hiatus might be a bit much, especially as the break will only be for one week. This means that after the 16th episode, the next one will air after two weeks.
This shouldn’t be an issue for fans. After all, lots of 2023 shows have been affected by worse delays. For instance, there’s Zom 100, which was supposed to end in September but was delayed until Christmas.

Frieren Part 2 Will Premiere in Early Winter 2024
Details about Frieren Part 2 were shared a few days ago following the release of Episode 15. On the anime’s official X (formerly Twitter) account and website, it was confirmed that Part 2 will begin on January 5.
The show’s second half is expected to feature 12 episodes. This is based on the fact that Part 1 aired for 12 weeks. For now, though, there’s no word yet on a final episode count.
Two-cour shows also typically get new opening and ending themes, but there’s no confirmation yet if this will also be the case for Frieren.
What is clear is that the anime will continue to get new episodes on Crunchyroll in the US and other select regions.
Along with Frieren, the other Fall 23 breakout hit The Apothecary Diaries will also be a two-cour show.
