Among the many new faces coming to Stranger Things, the Duffer brother-directors have expressed their enthusiasm when they got Paul Reiser to sign on the show.
His stay in the show has been quite the influence, particularly because the casting for the part had been deliberate to remind fans of his role in Aliens. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Reiser shared how his character will influence the show more than just being the doctor charged with clean-up.
"They told me who I was playing and they told me what they had in mind it was sort of nebulous—is he a good guy or a bad guy? To be honest, I've only read a few of the scripts so I still don't know and I'm not sure they know. I think part of what they were tickled by was, to whatever extent people know me from Aliens, they're automatically going, ‘Oh this guy is no good.' I don't know where they're going with it but it's a fun thing to play."
This echoes what Ross Duffer had said to be their goal for his character in Stranger Things: to make people feel the same emotions they had when dealing with Reiser's character. The goal is to let people have debates on whether the guy can be trusted or whether he will act in the same way as his other known character.
Stranger Things will be back for a new season this Halloween.
