How Powerful Is Spiegel in Frieren?
Spiegel is a creature present in the ancient lore of Sage Ewig. This water-mirror demon dwells within the Ruins of the King’s Tomb. This demon can delve into the memories of intruders within the dungeon's depths.
Moreover, Spiegel possesses the uncanny skill to craft exact replicas of its targets, endowed with identical physical prowess, mana, and abilities just like the originals.
It is important to note that the clones lack actual consciousness, and they merely mimic the behavior of the original targets.
Spiegel looks like a diamond covered with intricate scrollwork and encrusted crystals arranged in a circular pattern.
It is a delicate being and cannot initiate any sort of attack. It relies on the clones it creates to fight against its adversaries.
Does the Dark Frieren Clone Defeat the Real Frieren?
In episode 26 of the Frieren anime, Spiegel unleashes replicas of the mages to battle against Frieren, Fern, Land, and the rest of the mages.
Frieren’s clone, who is dubbed Dark Frieren by fans, turns out to be one of the most powerful replicas alongside Sense’s clone.
At the start of the episode, we see Fern and Frieren facing the Dark Frieren clone, marking the beginning of an epic battle.
Fern effectively launches Zoltraak at the Dark Frieren clone, yet the replica adeptly blocks it.
Fern and Frieren persist in their assault on the clone, with Frieren striving to identify an opportunity they can use.
Frieren promises Fern that she will find an opening for the clone to strike, assuring her that if she opens up, the clone will do so even more.
Despite Fern’s worry, Frieren reassures her that it won’t be deadly as long as she stays focused on defending herself.
Later, Fern surprises the clone with a Zoltraak, separating Frieren from her clone.
Eventually, Fern prepares to end the battle, but the damaged clone casts an undetectable spell, hurling Fern against the wall and shattering her staff.
Despite this, Fern realizes the opportunity it creates for Frieren to defeat the Dark Frieren clone.
Frieren then unleashes her spell and beats her clone. She eventually conquers the dungeon by defeating Spiegel.
