Frieren took the world by storm with its quadruple premiere on Crunchyroll. But how old is Frieren and the other characters in the anime?
Since this is a high-fantasy anime about loss, with different fantasy races, the characters' approximate ages actually play an important role in the series!

How Old Is Frieren?
Frieren, the series' titular main character, is over one thousand years old; this is where much of the conflict of the anime stems from.
As a centuries-old elf, Frieren understands and perceives time in a different way than her former companions.
Her ten years with them were a very short time from her perspective.
Meanwhile, some of them experienced that decade as a significant chunk of their lifetime that isn't coming back.
Throughout the anime, Frieren will learn to better appreciate the time she spent with Himmel and the rest of her group, at times finding that it's too late.
Is Frieren Immortal?
Frieren's immortal status hasn't been confirmed. She definitely has an extremely long lifespan, and she doesn't seem to have aged much in her millennium of life.
Theoretically, she could be killed, so we would settle for the term "near-immortal" unless later episodes reveal more information on the matter.
How Old Is Fern?
In her first appearance, Fern is 8 or 9 years old. In later manga chapters, she grows quite a bit. By Chapter 29, she's a young adult at 18 years old.
Fern is the adopted daughter of Heiter, one of Frieren's former companions. After his passing, Frieren takes over her upbringing. Fern grows to be mature beyond her years.
How Old Is Stark?
Stark, Eisen's apprentice, is 17 when he joins Frieren's party at his tutor's command, and 18 later in the story.
Perhaps he and Fern will provide another chance for Frieren to appreciate her relationship with humans around her while they're still around.

How Old Was Himmel?
It's no secret that Himmel dies early in Frieren, but his influence goes far beyond the grave.
His exact age isn't known, but he was likely a young adult around 20 when he was adventuring with Frieren.
He later dies of old age, presumably at around 80.
How Old Was Heiter?
As is the case with Himmel, Heiter's age is not mentioned explicitly. He was a young man when the party defeated the Demon King.
While his appearance doesn't change too drastically by the time he's near death, he is even older than Himmel, perhaps close to 90.
How Old Is Eisen?
Eisen looks a little bit older compared to the humans in the group, but it could be the beard!
As is often the case in high fantasy, it seems that dwarves in Frieren are more long-lived than humans, yet not near-immortal like the elves.
By the narrative present, Eisen could be over 100.
How Old Is Aura?
Aura, who serves the Demon King, is over 500 years old. This makes them younger than Frieren but still quite long-lived and possibly immortal.
Like most characters in the show, she doesn't look her age.
