Avatar: The Way of Water has introduced a brand new look to Pandora and the stories that lies within the magical place. As the sequel expands the whole franchise, it sets up what's next, Avatar 3, with the arrival of new characters and narratives that the upcoming film could deal with.

Avatar: The Way of Water ended with Jake Sully and his whole family finally being official and permanent members of the Metkayina clan led by Tonowari and Ronal after the victorious fight against the sky people just outside the reefs. Their life in the clan could further be explored in Avatar 3.

While there were only a few moments on Lo'ak and Tsireya being involved, Avatar: The Way of Water already teases that there is some romantic connection between the two and while it was just subtle, their relationship continues to grow through the sequel and possibly in Avatar 3 as well.

Then, there's the mystery of Kiri, her parentage is quite a baffling twist. Her mother is Dr. Grace, whose Na'vi form is mysteriously pregnant and bore a daughter, as her body remains in stasis. Kiri still asks questions about her father but when she got close to the answer, she had a seizure.

More than that, Kiri could also control the creatures of Pandora which she could summon to do what she wishes them to do. That makes her an interesting character especially considering that she hears the heartbeat of Eywa as well. This is also another thing that Avatar 3 could explore.

Lastly, there's Spider and Colonel Miles Quaritch. While Spider is now a fully-fledged adopted child of Jake and Neytiri, he still saved Quaritch from drowning but he refused to go with him. This only means that with Quaritch alive, the threat on Jake Sully remains.
