Higehiro, also known as After Being Rejected, I Shaved and Took in a High School Runaway, will have its 13-episode run finally coming to a close next week and everyone following the anime series is just as excited to know how it will all be ending. What happened in Higehiro Episode 12?
In Higehiro Episode 12, Mother, we see Sayu arrive Hokkaido and her mother slaps her right away upon seeing her asking her where she had been after hearing the rumors about her. Her brother came to her defense right away. He introduced Yoshida as the person who took care of Sayu while she was away. He didn't like seeing Sayu get hurt upon arriving home and Sayu assures him she is okay.
Her mother kept interrogating Sayu, even calling her a nuisance. Sayu fights back telling her that she never understands what she has been going through and that she never cared about her. Sayu is now standing for herself in front of her brother and Yoshida. Her mother asked why Yoshida is there and she stood up for him saying that he is there for her.
Yoshida said that he was dully aware of all the consequences of letting Sayu stay with him. Sayu defended him saying that her mother always belittled those she cares about and told her that Yoshida accepted and appreciated her as a person, as family, unlike what her mother treats her. Her mother told her she shouldn't have born Sayu.
Yoshida took a drink and speaks up for Sayu. He tells them that Sayu didn't choose her parents and since it seems that the mother can't take care of Sayu, he offered to take care of her instead, though he admits he is not entitled to do so, that such responsibility is on her family. He told Sayu's mother that is her job to raise Sayu, he stood up and begged her to do so until Sayu can stand up for herself.
Sayu's mother was confused as to why Yoshida, a stranger, did so. Issa supported this act of Yoshida and did the same. She explodes telling all of them to get out. While outside, Sayu and Yoshida talked about what happened. Yoshida was crying and he was affected about what her mother told her. Sayu noticed that and said thanks to him.
Sayu told Yoshida that when he kneeled, she felt as if she was forgiven. She told him she can now stand on her own two feet because of Yoshida as they held hands. Issa saw then how they are really close and tells her that she has to stay home until finishing high school. Yoshida's actions paid off. Issa assured Sayu he will do what he can to help her.
Issa appreciates what Yoshida did for Sayu. Yoshida stayed for the night and asked if he could talk to Sayu's mother again. He apologized for what he did and her mother asked why he did so, he replied that he did that for Sayu. The episode ends with Sayu's mother telling Yoshida that Sayu and her will talk about the future face to face and she asked Yoshida to leave soon.
