Here's Why The Marvels Got Delayed, According To New Report

Marvel Phase 5 is facing multiple delays from its initially promised set of TV shows and films, and the long-awaited Captain Marvel sequel, The Marvels, is one of the latest ones. Considering that The Marvels was set to premiere this July 2023, but had to be delayed to a November release, a new report indicates there’s a good reason for its moved release window.

You might’ve guessed it: post-production issues. According to The Wrap, The Marvels has been delayed due to Marvel Studios wanting to allot more time to the post-production process.

Seeing as the MCU films have been receiving backlash on their lackluster for visual effects since Thor: Love and Thunder and even up to Marvel Phase 5’s opener, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, it’s quite relieving to hear that the Captain Marvel sequel is receiving a better treatment on improving its quality, especially since MCU fans have been demanding production change since Ant-Man 3’s failure.

It is important to note that last year, VFX artists working at Marvel Studios have received awful treatment that pushed many employees to leave the industry. Marvel Studios addressed the issue by claiming they would take action to improve the standards so as not to put restraint on CGI-heavy shows and films they would produce.

Now that The Marvels is one of the delayed MCU films in progress, this should hold Marvel Studios accountable in terms of better quality production on their end.

The Marvel films have faced a great decline since the end of Avengers: Endgame, especially now that they’re building a new set of superheroes about to become a part of the new Avengers team. Even Ant-Man 3 is currently facing a predicament and forecast of becoming box office failure. Marvel Studios might have to rethink their next move on this one.

The Captain Marvel sequel, The Marvels, is now scheduled to premiere on November 10, 2023.
