Hayley Atwell recently confessed she hated Peggy Carter’s character transformation in Doctor Strange 2: Multiverse of Madness, although the actor has also expressed her interest in possibly returning to the MCU.
Hayley Atwell doesn’t seem to shut down the idea of her character coming back in the MCU, seeing as she had also voiced her own variant versions in Marvel’s What If…? and in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Recently speaking with Digital Spy, Atwell teases a potential Peggy Carter return in the MCU. Check out her full quote below:
“It’s so funny, because, you know, I did [the Agent Carter TV show] 10 years ago, and I love [Peggy] because I love the people, [so] you never know.”
The actor previously noted that Peggy Carter as being part of the Illuminati in Multiverse of Madness was “definitely not, you know, the trajectory that I see for Peggy. I would definitely like her to have more to do” which could be hinting at another Peggy Carter variant since the MCU has been filling up on the multiverse concept. A great example of that being the possible synopsis for Deadpool 3, which will bring back Hugh Jackman as Wolverine and possibly, Charlie Cox as Daredevil.
Ultimately, Atwell lets the fandom decide by saying, “It depends on what Marvel, and what the audiences, wants.”

If you recall, Peggy Carter was part of the Illuminati in Doctor Strange 2, where she was, unfortunately, ‘cut in half with a frisbee’ by the Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and though Wanda Maximoff’s undeniably strong root of power could not be matched, many can agree that killing off Peggy this quick could signal off a redemption arc through a different variant.
