It's been more than 10 years since the last Harry Potter was released on the big screen and a lot of Potterheads have been wondering whether there will be plans to continue the franchise and bring back the original cast. So far, Warner Bros. has only shown interest, but no plans are coming to fruition as far as we know.
With the Fantastic Beasts series having an underwhelming performance and the Return to Hogwarts reunion special being well-received, it seems that there really is a public interest from fans to revisit the original trio and see their life as older versions of the characters.
In a recent interview with This Morning, Rupert Grint, who played Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter series, was asked whether he is open to reprising his role in a potential future movie in the franchise. Fortunately, he expressed his interest although the timing has to be right.
"Yeah, I think if the timing was right and everyone was kinda coming back I’d definitely revisit it. It’s a character that’s important to me. I kinda grew up and we kinda became the same person. I feel quite protective of him as well," he responded.
It is great to hear that Grint is open to reprising his role again since it's a sign that fans can look forward to seeing his name if ever Warner Bros. decided to make it official to revisit the series and bring back the cast for a future film.
Obviously, as the actor pointed out, it still all depends on the story and it is likely that it will also depend if his former colleagues will do the film as well since the audience would love to see the complete trio again with a satisfying adventure.
Let's just wait and see whether Warner Bros. does end up revisiting the franchise in the near future. Since we're currently at a time where studios are mining their IPs and relying on nostalgia, the possibility is certainly out there.
