Han Solo Trilogy Rumored to Be in Development

Disney has signed Alden Ehrenreich on for a Han Solo trilogy, reports the New York Daily News. The website credits the information to "inside sources", as publically Disney has still only announced one Han Solo prequel. The source claims that Disney is waiting to see how well the first Han Solo movie does before really committing to doing two sequels.

The insider explained Disney's reasoning for wanting a trilogy. "There is a real sense of excitement around the Han Solo movie and its potential. Given that Han's early adventures do not need to be tied to the Empire, it leaves story lines open with the opportunity to really give fans something different. They can explore new galaxies and crazy creatures and bring in a wide array of new characters."

The insider went on to say that the folks at Disney "feel that his character has the right potential to become a central figure in several movies. They're keeping things under wraps at the moment, but the deal is that he has signed for at least three movies."

The first Han Solo prequel movie is scheduled to premiere in May of 2018. Alden Ehrenreich, who is known for his role in "Hail, Caeser!", will play the titular character. The movie will be directed by The LEGO Movie's Phil Lord and Christopher Miller and will be written by Lawrence and Jake Kasdan. Lawrence Kasdan previously wrote Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.

Whether a Han Solo trilogy will be good depends a lot on how good the first one is, so I think it's wise that Disney is waiting to see how the first one is recieved before planning a trilogy. What about you? Do you want a Han Solo trilogy?
