It has been over a year and a half now since the final episode of season 4, and it seems that a Haikyuu!! Season 5 announcement is coming soon based on a mysterious countdown on the website.
Recently, a countdown went up on the Haikyuu!! official website which ends on August 13 at 6 PM JST (2 AM PT / 5 AM ET).
The countdown on the site was also shared on the anime’s official Twitter account.
While the tweet acknowledged the countdown, it did not reveal any other info regarding what fans can expect to see when the timer ends.
Though the official Haikyuu!! manga Twitter did mention that the countdown will end right at the beginning of the Haikyu!! × V.LEAGUE collaboration event.
The V.LEAGUE is a semi-professional volleyball league in Japan, and the event will feature an exhibition match to celebrate the series’ 10th anniversary.
Aside from just being a timer for the collab event, there are theories that the countdown is for a potential Haikyuu!! season 5 announcement.
As spotted by @WSJ_manga, an article on Collabo Café mentions that a Haikyuu!! cafe will be held on August 12, and it will feature menu items that are based on the fifth season.
Given this, fans should be on standby for the countdown’s end as it’s likely a Haikyuu!! Season 5 announcement will be made.
