The sports anime genre is filled with lots of popular titles, one of them is Haikyu!!, the volleyball series that has become one of the most popular sports anime in recent years.

Based on the Shonen Jump manga of the same name, the anime by Production I.G has become a hit all over the world. Despite its popularity, the anime has not gotten a fifth season yet.

Instead of a Season 5, the Haikyu!! anime’s story will seemingly be concluded in the two-part Final movie, the first of which is confirmed to be released in February.

Today, the first film, which is titled Haikyu!! The Movie: Decisive Battle at the Garbage Dump, was confirmed to get an IMAX release, as revealed in this new poster:

Similar to other IMAX posters, this visual has a huge IMAX logo on it. Meanwhile, the two characters, Shoyo Hinata and Kenma Kozume, are shown prominently at the top and bottom, respectively.

With the film’s release in Japan confirmed, international fans are now hoping that this means the movie will also get an IMAX cinema run worldwide.

Even with how popular the film is, there’s no word yet on a North American release for the Haikyu!! movie. Given how well-known it is though, fans believe that a theatrical run is inevitable.

An IMAX release is not a guarantee that an anime film will get released outside of Japan, but it may be an indicator. After all, IMAX releases are usually reserved for bigger films like The Boy and the Heron.

Another example is Spy x Family Code: White. After being confirmed to get an IMAX release, the movie’s North American release was confirmed.

Of course, this is all just speculation for now as there’s still no word on release plans for this film outside of Japan.
