Following the tragic death of Mahito Maki’s mother in the Tokyo air raids, he and his father decide to leave the city and take refuge with his maternal aunt.

Soon, Mahito sets out on an adventure of a lifetime and enters into a world where the living and the dead unite.
In this mystical world, the boundaries of death blur, giving rise to a fresh beginning.
The Boy and the Heron is Hayao Miyazaki’s magnum opus and is also considered his semi-autobiography.
How Long Will The Boy and the Heron Be in Theaters?
The Boy and the Hero is scheduled to be released in US theaters on December 8, 2023.
GKIDS has acquired the distribution rights for this new Studio Ghibli anime movie.
