As the new Gundam anime continues its run, it was announced that the Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury's opening theme by YOASOBI will get an English version soon.
The upcoming English version of the show’s OP was announced via YOASOBI’s official Twitter account.
There, details about its release were revealed. Plus, it was mentioned that the English version’s release will be made to celebrate the music video getting 10 million views.
The Witch from Mercury – A New Standout Addition to the Gundam Franchise
In case you’re unfamiliar, Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury is an anime original series by Sunrise that’s directed by Hiroshi Kobayashi, the director of Kiznaiver.
Joining Kobayashi is series composer Ichiro Okouchi, the co-creator of Code Geass.
The Witch from Mercury is a noteworthy Gundam anime for multiple reasons.
One is that it’s the first TV anime in the series following Iron-Blooded Orphans which was released over seven years ago.
Another big reason it stands out is that it’s the first anime in the franchise to feature a female protagonist in Suletta Mercury.
The series is set in the year 122 A.S. (Ad Stella), and in this era, corporations have entered space and have built a massive economic system.
The Witch from Mercury follows Suletta, a girl who transfers to the Asticassia School of Technology that’s run by the Benerit Group.
During this time, the Benerit Group is the dominant force in the mobile suit industry.
This new Gundam series premiered in Japan on October 2, 2022, followed by a Crunchyroll release shortly after.

The Witch from Mercury's English Opening Theme
The anime’s opening theme is entitled Shukufuku, which means "The Blessing" in English. It is performed by the Japanese music duo YOASOBI.
YOASOBI is one of the most popular music acts in Japan today, and they are well-known among anime fans for their work on the opening and ending theme songs of Beastars Season 2.
The Witch from Mercury’s opening theme will be released in English soon. It was also confirmed that the English version of the opening will be part of the song’s CD release on November 9, 2022.
