Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 unveiled Will Poulter's Adam Warlock in quite a different way than that in the comics.

In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Adam Warlock is strong and all powerful, but at the same time, he is hilarious, careless, and clueless about everything that is happening.

As explained through various interviews, the Adam Warlock that everybody saw in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is actually a child, an infant even, to the point of being immature.

The actor behind Adam Warlock, Will Poulter, defends the need of this stage for the character in the MCU.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Will Poulter revealed, "We felt like the immaturity of Adam was not just fundamental to what is effectively his origin and his infancy, story wise, but it was also an opportunity for humor."

Poulter added, "And once he is separated from his mother and once she has all but disappeared, that actually calls for him to mature, and that requires him to be more independent than you've seen him previously."

Poulter stressed that it is an opportunity to be hilarious, "And therein lies the comedy and the drama and the humor and the pathos of his journey."

While in the comics, Adam Warlock is a serious character, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 director James Gunn quite humanized the portrayal of the character which opened the doors for Warlock's maturity and character development in the MCU.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 saw Adam Warlock following each and every order of his mother, Ayesha, and when she was gone, he was similar to a child lost in the middle of the galaxy.

Adam Warlock knew nothing prior to that and without her, he starts his own journey to discovering that there's more to life than being his mother's kill switch.

This character development could play a long game in the MCU, and it gives the film franchise a huge wiggle room on how Adam Warlock could fit into the future projects.
