Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3: James Gunn Reveals Awesome Early Draft Screenplay

It's no secret that James Gunn had been working on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 for a long time. Now, the Suicide Squad director has shared the early drafts of his screenplay and it features hand-drawn pictures of young Rocket with his friends.

James Gunn has shared a new update on his official Twitter account and it features the illustrations he made for the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 screenplay. The drawings indicate the details for Floor and Lylla. The fourth illustration shows Rocket and his three friends in their cages.

"My screenplays have grown increasingly unconventional over the years," Gunn wrote.

"By the time of #GotGVol3 my script included, of course, all the songs in the movie, but also a dictionary & breakdown of the humanimal language, maps, action designs & simple character designs like these - the basics of characters like Floor, who weren’t in the comics, & Lylla, who was adapted from the comics," he added.

"The screenplay is the blueprint of the movie & anything I can include to help my crew understand the story & support the foundation, I’ll include," Gunn continued.

"That said, also being the director, I transgress into many areas that are traditionally directorial - songs, visuals, shots, etc. So I wouldn’t necessarily suggest beginning screenwriters write screenplays like this!" he concluded.

It's certainly an interesting insight into how James Gunn works and how he had planned to include Lylla, Floor, and Teefs in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 right from the start.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 brings back Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Sean Gunn, Elizabeth Debicki, and Sylvester Stallone from the first and second Guardians films.

Maria Bakalova, who debuted as Cosmo the Spacedog in the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, also returns in the sequel.

Chukwudi Iwuji and Will Poulter join the Vol. 3 cast as the High Evolutionary and Adam Warlock, respectively.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is now screening in theaters worldwide.
