Although we never got to see how she truly died, there had been rumors that she suffered from a heart attack, others say that she was shot in the heart. So, which is it? Here's what really happened.
Did Griselda Blanco Have A Heart Attack? Her Health Issues Explained
Not once have we seen Sofia Vergara drop her cigarette out for a minute in the six-part series, Griselda, which explains how her health eventually started to decline.
Initially, Griselda was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment after being found guilty of involvement with the large-scale smuggling of the Medellín cartel's cocaine (from Colombia to the United States).
She was also eventually charged with 3 counts of first-degree murder, which was reduced after a plea deal to plead guilty to 3 counts of second-degree murder, granting her an additional 20-year sentence.
See, Griselda was released in 2004 due to her growing health issues after suffering from a heart attack in prison in 2002. Due to this, she was deported back to Colombia.
In real life, Griselda suffered the consequences of her signature assassination move. She was killed on September 3, 2012, at the age of 69, shot down by two assassins on a motorcycle.
According to former Agent Bob Palombo (via The Independent), "[Griselda] wasn't hiding. Not at all." And there, she was shot at the marketplace by the butcher shop.

Why Didn't Netflix Show the "Cocaine Godmother's" Death?
The Netflix series ended on a rather bittersweet note. While we did get to see her imprisoned for the Miami Drug War, the finale didn't show how Griselda Blanco died.
There was only a mere implication as she sat by the beach with a cigar in her hand, watching her three older sons calling out to her.
"We had to show this is someone who cared about her children," Griselda co-creator and executive producer Eric Newman recently told Variety, "So, for us, I think the real loss is not her death many years later. It is the loss of the very thing she was trying to protect."
"And we only had six episodes!" Vergara added.
In addition to that, they wanted to show respect by veering away from Griselda's intimate death after having portrayed her most vulnerable moments on the Netflix series.
