Following Trigger’s SSSS.Gridman and SSSS.Dynazenon, the new Gridman Universe movie was announced along with a new visual and a 2023 release window.
The new movie in the Gridman series was announced at the recent SSSS.GRIDMAN×SSSS.DYNAZENON Special Night event which happened on August 26, 2022.
There, fans were given their first look at the anime via a new key visual which was also shared on the series' official Twitter account.
The visual features Yuta Hibiki, the protagonist of SSSS.Gridman. He will be joined by other characters from the Gridman series.
Also confirmed to make an appearance are characters from Dynazenon, including main character Yomogi Asanaka.
At the event, it was also confirmed that the voice cast from the two shows will return in the movie. The confirmed voice actors include:
- Gridman – Hikaru Midorikawa
- Yuta Hibiki – Yuya Hirose
- Rikka Takarada – Yume Miyamoto
- Sho Utsumi – Soma Saito
- Yomogi Asanaka – Junya Enoki
- Yume Minami – Shion Wakayama
- Koyomi Yamanaka – Yuichiro Umehara
- Chise Asukagawa – Chika Anzai
Also returning are staff members from the previous TV anime, including:
- Director – Akira Amemiya
- Screenplay – Keiichi Hasegawa
- Character Design – Masaru Sakamoto
- Music – Shiro Heronomi
Gridman Universe is an upcoming movie that’s the third entry in Studio Trigger and Tsuburaya Productions’ tokusatsu anime series.
In case you’re unfamiliar, Tsuburaya Productions is the iconic studio by Eiji Tsuburaya, the creator of the Ultraman series and co-creator of the Godzilla franchise.
The series began with SSSS.Gridman, an anime by Studio Trigger that was released in 2018. It is loosely based on the Denkou Choujin Gridman (aka Gridman the Hyper Agent) tokusatsu series which was released back in 1993.
Trigger followed it up with SSSS.Dynazenon which aired from April to June 2021. Unlike the first anime which is similar to Ultraman-style tokusatsu shows, Dyznazenon features mecha versus kaiju action.

While there’s no info yet on its story, the cast and visuals confirm that this movie will feature a crossover between the two previous TV anime projects.
The Gridman Universe movie is set to release sometime in 2023, though there’s no word yet on an official release date.
