The Mandalorian Season 2 pretty much established that the Star Wars saga's most menacing villain Grand Admiral Thrawn is coming to wreak havoc in the galaxy, only this time, in live-action form.

Since it was teased in the hit Disney+ show, fans have begun speculating as to which actor should portray the legendary Star Wars baddie. A lot of people are convinced that Doctor Strange star Benedict Cumberbatch would be a solid choice and his depth as an actor pretty much proves that. Some are also saying that Thrawn's voice actor Lars Mikkelsen should keep the role and play him in live-action just like Katee Sackhoff did with Bo-Katan Kryze.

However, Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni might have other plans for the character. We reported earlier this week that Iron Man actor Robert Downey Jr. is being considered for the Thrawn role and the casting rumors generated mixed reactions from fans all over the galaxy.

Following the RDJ rumors, it is now being reported that Lucasfilm is already working on a live-action film revolving around Thrawn's origin story and the claim came from tipster Daniel Richtman via Patreon. Other details about the project were not disclosed but it's pretty evident that they have big plans for the character considering they're planning to give him a feature film debut.

Now, the real question is, would you be down to see RDJ play Grand Admiral Thrawn on the big screen?

Meanwhile, for your Star Wars fix, all episodes of The Mandalorian are available for streaming via Disney+.
