Good Omens is a six-part television series inspired by the creations of Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett. The first season was initially meant to be a mini-series, but its incredible reception meant that it deserves a second season.

Now that we received an update about the sequel, we know that you are praying as hard as we are to learn all the details about the show. Here is everything we know about Good Omens Season 2.

Good Omens Season 2 Release Date: When Will the Good Omens Sequel Come Out?

Good Omens Season 2 is scheduled to premiere in Summer 2023, with the news officially being announced during the Good Omens panel at the 2022 New York Comic-Con.

The first season of Good Omens debuted on May 31, 2019, and since this premiere window worked very well for the show's first season, Good Omens Season 2 may also come out around May.

When was Good Omens Season 2 announced?

Good Omens Season 2 was first announced in June 2021.

It's 31 years since Good Omens was published, which means it's 32 years since Terry Pratchett and I lay in our respective beds in a Seattle hotel room at a World Fantasy Convention, and plotted the sequel,

Gaiman wrote in his June 29, 2021, blog post.

I got to use bits of the sequel in Good Omens — that's where our angels came from. Terry's not here any longer, but when he was, we had talked about what we wanted to do with Good Omens, and where the story went next. And now, thanks to BBC Studios and Amazon, I get to take it there.

When will Good Omens Season 2 start production?

Neil Gaiman teased the production of season 2 back in November 2021 when he Tweeted:

Good Omens Season 2 Cast: Who are the Actors Included in Good Omens Sequel?

The cast from the first season of Good Omens will be returning for season 2.

Aziraphale and Crowley

The cast of Good Omens season 2 will still be led by our favorite angel and devil duo. Michael Sheen will still play the angel Aziraphale, while David Tennant will be playing the devil Crowley.

Same Faces, New Characters

Two actors from the first season, who previously played different roles, will also be joining Good Omens Season 2.

Maggie Service and Nina Sosanya, who both played nuns in the first season, will now play Maggie and Nina, respectively. Yes, you read that right – Neil Gaiman used the first names of these actors when he was writing the script to show that he wanted them to play the characters. Apparently, the names stuck.

During the 2022 New York Comic-Con, Gaiman said:

There were two characters in it, and I wanted them played by Maggie and Nina. And in order to make it clear to everyone reading the script that those characters were going to be played by Maggie and Nina, I called them Maggie and Nina.

Maggie owns a bookshop, while Nina owns the coffee shop right across called Give Me Coffee or Give Me Death.

We will also see Quelin Sepulveda, another actor from season 1, play a brand new angel called Muriel, who was meant to be a foil to all the horrible angels. Muriel spent the last six thousand years in heaven, sitting in the same office reading and filing records.

The Good Omens Season 2 cast will also include Derek Jacobi as Metatron, Niamh Walsh, and Mark Gatiss as Harmony. We will also see Steve Pemberton as Glozier, Reece Shearsmith as William Shakespeare, and Dame Sian Phillips, along with Tim Downie, Pete Firman, Andi Osho, and Alex Norton.

The stars of the show also went on a Zoom call during the NYCC 2022.

The series is based on the novel with the same name, written by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett.

Gaiman will return as an executive producer, with Douglas Mackinnon returning as the director and co-showrunner for Good Omens Season 2.

Good Omens Season 2 Plot: What Will be the Plot of the Good Omens Sequel?

There is still no official synopsis for Good Omens Season 2,and there is little to no information about the show, but we have some theories based on updates we receive.

It seems Good Omens Season 2 will expand the universe of Good Omens, with the series going beyond what was written in the book. In his blog post announcing the sequel to the series, Gaiman shared how he and Terry Pratchett planned the book's sequel.

On the Saturday evening Terry left the bar quite early and headed off to bed. I stayed up talking to people and having a marvelous time, hung in there until the small hours of the morning when they closed the hotel bar and all the people went away, and then headed up to the hotel room room.

I opened the door as quietly as I could and tiptoed in the dark across the room to where my bed was located.

I'd just reached the bed when, from the far side of the room, a voice said, "What time of the night do you call this then? Your mother and I have been worried sick about you."

Terry was wide awake. Jet lag had taken its toll.

And I was wide awake too. So we lay in our respective beds and having nothing else to do, we plotted the sequel to Good Omens. It was a good one, too. We fully intended to write it, whenever we next had three or four months free. Only I went to live in America and Terry stayed in the UK, and after Good Omens was published Sandman became SANDMAN and Discworld became DISCWORLD™ and there wasn't ever a good time.

Whatever the plot of the sequel will be, we know that it will be as enchanting and as magical as the first.
