Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Anime-Original Gojo

Even for those who have read the manga, the next anime season is going to be an exciting one as Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 will feature more anime-original scenes. This was confirmed by Satoru Gojo VA Yuichi Nakamura in a recent interview in Japan.

While the interview wasn’t in English, several Jujutsu Kaisen fan translators have shared interesting snippets from the interview.

Aside from Nakamura confirming the new anime-only scenes, he also mentioned his different approach to voicing Gojo in Season 2.

As shown in the recent AnimeJapan trailer, Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 will follow the manga’s Hidden Inventory Arc.

For those who haven’t read the manga, this arc is set in the past during Gojo and Suguru Geto's Jujutsu High days.

Despite the younger Gojo that we’ll see, voice actor Yuichi Nakamura will still voice him.

Though his approach will not be the same as the present-day Gojo. After all, the younger Gojo lacks the experience of his older counterpart.

Specifically, Nakamura said (as translated by @king_jin_woo) that Gojo in this arc is still inexperienced and in the process of becoming the Gojo that we know now. Though Nakamura was still mindful of how confident the young Gojo is.

It’ll be interesting to see how Nakamura adjusts his voice for this version of Gojo.

After all, while his current self is oozing with confidence, his younger self also has an air of superiority despite his lack of experience.

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Will Feature Lots of Anime-Original Scenes

Even before the first proper trailer for the anime was revealed, it was already confirmed that the anime will adapt the Hidden Inventory Arc and the highly anticipated Shibuya Incident Arc.

While the anime will stay true to its source material, Nakamura said that there’s more added content in the anime compared to the manga. This should make the second season a must-watch, even for manga readers.

Nakamura didn’t spoil what new scenes fans can expect, though he did mention how the anime’s fight scenes will feature an enhanced direction and more flashiness compared to the manga.

Given that the next two arcs are among the most intense in terms of fights, the show’s second season is shaping up to be one of this year’s biggest shonen anime.

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 will be released on July 6, 2023. New episodes are expected to release on Crunchyroll after their Japanese TV broadcast.
