We're a few weeks away from the highly-anticipated premiere of the Mortal Kombat film reboot but there's one issue, Warner Bros. has decided to push back the release of the film based on the iconic video game series developed by Midway Games. Originally slated for an April 16 release date in select theaters and HBO Max, the Simon McQuoid has been pushed back to April 23.

The folks over at Warner Bros. didn't include an explanation when they issued an official statement regarding Mortal Kombat's new premiere date but it's safe to assume that they're making room for Godzilla vs Kong to attract more fans and quite frankly, that's the best thing to do from a business standpoint.

Meanwhile, excitement has been building up for the Mortal Kombat reboot and it's safe to assume at this point that longtime fans of the video game need not worry as the creators of the film will be bringing us something entirely different that will remove the bitter taste the original Mortal Kombat films from the '90s left in our mouths thanks to its action-packed trailer which premiered last month. Personally, I'm beyond excited to see this one and I have a good feeling that it'll exceed expectations.

Mortal Kombat will now hit cinemas and HBO Max on April 23.
