In case you missed it, Ghostbusters 2020 is definitely happening and director Jason Reitman has just shared the first photo of the main cast. Not surprisingly, fans are seeing a possible connection between the new characters and Egon Spengler.
Reitman had shared the image on his official Twitter account along with an interesting caption. Check it out below.
"The Family's All Here," Reitman wrote, something that immediately made way for major speculations. Some believe that McKenna Grace looks way too much like Harold Ramis' Egon with some even calling her a "mini Egon." So is it possible that Grace is playing Egon's daughter in Ghostbusters 2020?
It's still unclear just who these characters are. However, Carrie Coon will be playing the single mom with two children played by Grace and Stranger Things actor Finn Wolfhard. It is believed that they might be the family that Egon left behind and Grace's character will be taking over her father's work.
Another theory suggests that Grace is playing the reincarnation of Egon which should be an interesting idea. However, we would recommend taking that with a grain of salt.
The lead stars of the original two Ghostbusters movies are expected to appear in the upcoming film as well. Dan Akroyd, Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, and Sigourney Weaver might find the mini Egon an interesting person to meet.
Ghostbusters 2020 is currently being shot in Canada. The film is scheduled for release on July 10, 2020.
