Ghost Rider Actor Gets Candid on His MCU Future

Gabriel Luna is currently portraying Tommy Miller in HBO’s hottest zombie drama, The Last of Us. Despite the fact that the video game series adaptation is currently capturing fans' attention, the actor who first became known for playing Robbie Reyes aka Ghost Rider in the TV show Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. expressed his true feelings about future MCU appearances.

Luna's Ghost Rider was reportedly getting a spinoff in 2019, but it was eventually scrapped by its intended network Hulu due to creative differences. However, the Terminator star addressed a potential return in the MCU in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

“It’s wonderful that people love Robbie and grew to love him as much as I did. I’m always open to telling a good story. So if it all comes across and the pieces are there, then I’m absolutely happy to do it. I keep myself physically able, and with the way they’re taking things, truly anything is possible.” said Luna.

Given the fans' eagerness to see more of Luna in the MCU, the actor changed his mind about returning, despite initially believing that what he gave as Robbie was sufficient in the Agents of SHIELD's narrative.

He narrated, “If you asked me the same question two-and-a-half years ago, I probably would’ve said, 'I’m happy with what we did, and if all people ever get to see or remember are those ten episodes of Agents of SHIELD, then that’s something I could live happily with my entire life.' But when I talk to fans now and I hear that they’re still holding a candle for Robbie after six years, it makes me very proud.”

With Marvel's multiverse, it wouldn't be as difficult to reintroduce Ghost Rider into the MCU's timeline. “From the way that the story is unfolding, the multiverse certainly opens up that door that I previously may have been on my way to closing. It’s Hollywood, man. Things change overnight, so I’d be open to a conversation.” Luna emphasized.

Luna first opened up to ComicBook.com about his wishes to bring forth Robbie to the MCU’s future installments because he believes in the integral part his character possesses, even if the studios decide to bring another actor to portray him.

“There are so many places you can go because in the comics he became an Avenger and he's now the All-Rider, which is pretty awesome when you think about it. He's become quite an important piece in Marvel publishing so if he were to appear again, he absolutely deserves it. Whether it's me or not.” said the Last of Us actor.

The first episode of The Last of Us is streaming on HBO Max.
