Game of Thrones Star Says He Won't Do A Spinoff Unless He Gets Recognition

Game of Thrones is undeniably one of the most successful and popular TV series in the world. Due to its well-known reputation, any actor who gets a chance to be part of this franchise is an immediate candidate for stardom, even if the project is not Game of Thrones itself but the projects that come after, like spinoffs. When GOT’s first spinoff, House of the Dragon, aired last year, fans demanded that it be followed by more.

Alongside fan favorites Emilia Clarke, Maisie Williams, and Sophie Turner, Kit Harrington is one of the names that became huge after starring in the HBO adaptation of George R.R. Martin's best-selling book series A Song of Ice and Fire. Due to his role as Jon Snow, Harrington became one of the actors who have been subjected to returning in future installments set in Westeros.

Jon Snow was one of those characters that everyone seemed to love at the beginning of GOT’s season 1, but when this Bastard of Winterfell met his unsatisfying self in the show’s finale, fans hoped that he would have the chance to redeem himself in future events.

In June 2022, The Hollywood Reporter announced that Jon Snow would have his spinoff, and recently, Harrington got honest about whether the show would push through if his conditions were met by the fans.

During a recent appearance on The Tonight Show with host Jimmy Fallon, Harington frankly revealed that he misses the attention that GOT brought to him during the peak of the show. Being that his show has an indefinite status, the actor commented that his spinoff will see the light of day if people begin to pay attention to him on the street again.

“Well, I don't know. Do you want to have it? Yeah, I can't say anything on that, but, I don’t know, man... I walk down the street, and I get recognized a little less nowadays, and it kind of hurts my ego, you know? No, I’m pretty close to, like, putting on some furs... I've got a tally in my head of how few photos I get asked for in a day. And when it gets below a certain number, I'll do the spinoff.” he ranted.

It seems like this actor is testing the waters to see if the fans will still bait his spinoff, because if not, then what’s the point of releasing it in the first place if it will just get paid dust?

The Jon Snow spinoff has yet to receive more details.
