Fans Advocate This Game of Thrones Star Is Too Overrated For Solo Spinoff

Given Game of Thrones' lazy and bad series conclusion, the show's creators are hoping they will have the chance to redeem themselves by trying to develop spin-offs that will continue the Westeros narrative. There are several Game of Thrones spinoffs reportedly in the works right now, but when the announcement comes that this character will have his own spin-off, fans have mixed reactions.

Seven months after it was announced that Jon Snow (Kit Harington) will have his own spin-off, fans have not stopped debating whether he deserves his own spotlight. In a recent Reddit thread, fans have shared their sentiments and named Jon as the most overrated character that they feel indifferent to, regardless of everyone’s love for them.

“I've always been so confused as to why Jon Snow is so beloved. He's so boring imo. His plot armor, people talking about how the Battle of the Bastards was so cool made me sigh because he shouldn't have lived being between two cavalry charges slamming into one another,” commented Redditor TheFratwoodsMonster.

“Hard to agree, it's cool when I was instantly taken out of the fight. Kit's ‘You're breaking up with me? But why?’ expression for 8 seasons, and his in comparison milquetoast story line of honorable secret heir to the throne and potential promised savior just never grabbed me. Don't get why it grabbed so many others.” he ranted.

User Yamreall sympathized with the others sentiments and said, “And to think he's getting his own spin-off, when there [are] so many great stories from the books that deserves [their] own show,”

Aside from the working title Snow and the subtle plot that it would pick up after the events of Game of Thrones, there is no more important information that has been released to the public as of this writing. In one of his latest blog posts, George R.R. Martin revealed that some of the TV projects have been "shelved," but he didn't specify which ones, and given the fans' resentment, the Jon Snow spin-off may have never seen the light of day.

Martin also revealed in his blog that most ideas about the sequel are Harington-certified. “Yes, it was Kit Harrington who brought the idea to us,” he wrote. “I cannot tell you the names of the writers/ showrunners, since that has not been cleared for release yet... but Kit brought them in too, his own team, and they are terrific.”

Whether the spin-off happens or not, fans have to know that Harington was keen on making his return as Jon and gave it full steam ahead to create it. In June, Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) gave her comment on the Jon Snow project, “He has told me about it. And I know it exists. It's happening. It's been created by Kit as far as I can understand, so he's in it from the ground up. So what you will be watching, hopefully, if it happens, is certified by Kit Harington," she said.
