John Bradley, who played Samwell Tarly on Game of Thrones, discusses a potential reappearance in the Jon Snow spinoff series.
Samwell Tarly, Jon Snow's close friend and valued confidante, was named the new Grand Maester on the Small Council in the Game of Thrones series finale. Following the controversial conclusion of Game of Thrones, a number of projects that will expand the franchise have been announced.
These include the House of the Dragon prequel series and the recently announced Jon Snow sequel series, in which Kit Harington will reprise his role as the main character.
Will Samwell Tarly Appear in the Game of Thrones Jon Snow Spinoff?
Bradley says in an interview with Digital Spy that he is willing to read a script for the Game of Thrones' Jon Snow spinoff series.
After spending so much time on Game of Thrones, Bradley claims he was relieved to leave Samwell in the past. The subject of revisiting his Samwell character was brought up by the actor. He claimed he hasn't discussed playing Samwell again with anyone, but he would be open to reading a script for the Jon Snow series.
“We played those parts for so long that as soon as we'd finished, we felt sort of free of them in a way. Because it's a lot of story to carry around and a lot of emotional life to carry around with you,” Bradley shared.
“But in the future, who knows? I haven't spoken to anybody about the potential Jon Snow prequel, but if somebody wants to send a script my way I’d be interested to read it.”
When Should We Expect the Snow Spinoff?
Aside from Harington's return as Jon Snow, no more details about the Games of Thrones Jon Snow spinoff series have been disclosed. Bradley is the most recent GoT cast member to comment on a possible return to Westeros.
Emilia Clarke has stated that she is not interested in reprising her role as Daenerys, although Gwendoline Christine (Brienne of Tarth) stated that she is willing to appear in the upcoming Game of Thrones installment. Of course, it appears that a quality script and excellent timing could persuade Bradley to reprise his role as Samwell.
Bradley's desire to branch out in his career after eight years of portraying Samwell is reasonable. Fans would undoubtedly be excited to see Samwell and Jon together again on film should the spinoff proceed. We anticipate hearing more information about the Game of Thrones Jon Snow spinoff series soon.
