Following the show’s reveal back in September, the Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End TV anime got a 2023 release date announcement alongside a new illustration by the manga’s artist.
The new info about the show, along with the illustration, was shared on the anime’s official Twitter account and reported by Japanese outlets such as Comic Natalie.

In case you’re unfamiliar, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is an award-winning fantasy manga series written by Kanehito Yamada and illustrated by Tsukasa Abe. It began serialization in Weekly Shonen Sunday on April 28, 2020.
Since then, the manga has gotten nearly 100 chapters and has received praise from fans and critics alike.
The manga won the Grand Prize in the 14th Manga Taisho as well as the New Creator Prize at the 25th Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize for its creators.
Although it is a fantasy manga series, its premise is far from a typical fantasy manga story as it features a group of adventurers after they have already defeated the Demon King.
Specifically, the story follows Frieren, an elven mage who is a member of a party of adventurers that defeated the Demon King and brought peace to the land.
After their victory, Frieren travels the world in pursuit of magical knowledge, though the party members promise to meet again in the capital after 50 years.
Once 50 years have passed, Frieren returns to the capital but finds her companions have all grown old.
Unlike them, Frieren is an elf with a long lifespan, which means she will outlive all of them.
Soon, one of the members dies of old age. Following this, Frieren sets out to fulfill the last request of her friend.

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Anime Release Date, Illustration
The new illustration was made by Tsukasa Abe and features the series’ main cast.
It also features a short message from the illustrator celebrating the anime’s production and release.

Frieren’s TV anime adaptation is set to premiere sometime in 2023. Though right now, there’s no official word yet on when the series will be released.
There’s also no info yet on whether it will be available on streaming platforms such as Crunchyroll.
Currently, the studio that will animate the show is also yet to be announced.
The only concrete detail we know right now is that it targets a 2023 release and there is a key visual for the anime that features its main character, Frieren.
