Final Fantasy XV: Pocket Edition HD Gets Surprise Launch for PS4 and Xbox One, Coming to Switch

After a glitch that accidentally revealed the game early, Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy XV: Pocket Edition HD is now available on PS4 and Xbox One, with a Switch release on the way. This is a surprising turn of events since you'd think the company would want to announce the game early for fans.

Then again, they might have done this because the game is only going to appeal to a niche audience. Let's be honest, only hardcore fans of Final Fantasy XV would be interested in this mobile game port.

Make no mistake, despite the cute graphics Final Fantasy XV: Pocket Edition HD has the exact same story as the original game. It might have different gameplay mechanics but the plot isn't new at all, as can be seen from the trailer above. That doesn't mean this is a bad game but if you have a PS4 and Xbox One, you should probably just get the recently released Royal Edition.

Nintendo Switch fans might be surprised to know that this will be the first Final Fantasy game for the hybrid console. This might make it more appealing to those who own a Switch but you'd think that Square Enix would try to make an original Final Fantasy title for the console first. Then again, the Switch is no stranger to mobile ports.

Final Fantasy XV: Pocket Edition HD is now available on PS4 and Xbox One. The Switch version has no release date yet.
