Final Fantasy XV Gets New Mobile Spinoff

To say that this year is devoted to Final Fantasy would be an understatement. That's because the surprises that Square Enix is rolling out for the franchise just keeps on coming.

The developer announced via Business Wire that a new game has been set as part of the partnership between Square Enix and Machine Zone Inc., a global technology company and a leader in free-to-play gaming for mobile.

This will be the first massive-multiplayer mobile game for the Final Fantasy XV franchise. It will be combining elements from the franchise's character's storyline, and soundtrack. What's more, the game will make use of Machine Zone's technology, which makes real-time simultaneous play all over the world possible.

"It is an honor to work on a franchise I have loved since I was a kid. Final Fantasy is an iconic franchise in gaming. Bringing Final Fantasy XV to the mobile MMO gaming world is a significant opportunity for our players and we are proud to partner with Square Enix."

Square Enix is also confident in having Machine Zone collaborate with the project. This is due to the developer's record and achievements in mobile gaming.

Currently, the new MMO game for Final Fantasy XV is still untitled. There are also no details yet of how the treatment for the game will be, but Square Enix has high hopes for the title, dubbing it as "MZ's next great global mobile MMO game." We expect to hear more from the studio once developments happen.
