Final Fantasy XV Art Director Says Goodbye to Franchise

One of the art directors who have worked a long time on the Final Fantasy franchise has already resigned from Square Enix. Yusuke Naora, who had served as art director for four iterations of the franchise, will be leaving the company.

Following his announcement in Japanese, Naora had also tweeted a series of English tweets to let his English-speaking fans know what happened. He confirmed that after working with Square Enix for 24 years, his last day was marked on Sept. 30.

He's also one of the people who have already seen the ending of Final Fantasy XV, as it had been his last work with the company, and he expressed happiness that it had become the great ending that the team aimed for.

He also expressed his regret that the release date had to be postponed, but reassured fans that it was a good move, as he felt that the delay "let me have honor," which we feel may be his way of saying that it let the team reach its standards for the game.

It appears that Naora will be staying on with Square Enix as illustrator and designer, though for what projects this will be, he did not reveal.

For those who want to see which works Naora had with Square Enix, one fan Twitter user @RedMakuzawa had detailed the full list of games that Naora had worked on with Square Enix, which includes the likes of Final Fantasy VI, Final Fantasy VIII, Final Fantasy XI, and Final Fantasy Type-0.

Final Fantasy XV will be out on Nov. 29 for the PS4 and Xbox One.
