The first trailer for Fatal Attraction, an upcoming series based on the 1987 thriller, has been released by Paramount+. The new series stars Joshua Jackson and Lizzy Caplan in roles originally held by Michael Douglas and Glenn Close.

A Hollywood Classic

The original film was a tremendous box office hit, garnered rave reviews, and won six Academy Award nominations in 1988, including Best Feature, Adapted Screenplay, and Best Actress for Close.

Yet, times have changed since 1987, and the original film can be difficult to watch now due to its fairly bad depiction of mental health and how it portrays female characters. That's what makes the Paramount+ series so intriguing, as it promises to modernize the plot to match modern sensibilities when it comes to genre relationships.

Caplan is a force of nature in the new teaser, equally beguiling and threatening. As a result, it will be interesting to experience the fan-favorite story through the eyes of a different character.

Paramount+ Drops Fatal Attraction TV Series Trailer

As the series' debut trailer reveals, Paramount+'s Fatal Attraction follows the same story beats of the 1987's thriller movie. As such, the teaser introduces us to Dan Gallagher (Jackson), a wealthy lawyer who appears to be blissfully married to Beth (Amanda Peet).

Yet, lust drives Dan to have a weekend romance with the lovely Alex Forrest (Caplan) during a business trip. For Dan, the fatal passionate encounter with Alex is nothing more than an adventure. On the other hand, the woman is obsessed with Dan and threatens his marriage.

Alexandra Cunningham wrote, executive produced and directed Fatal Attraction. Cunignham's previous work on TV shows such as Prime Suspect, Bates Motel, and USA's Dirty John suggests that the series is in good hands, as the showrunner has plenty of experience with thrillers, complex characters, and police investigations.

In Paramount's Fatal Attraction, Alyssa Jirrels portrays Ellen Gallagher, Toby Huss plays Mike Gerard, Reno Wilson plays Detective Earl Brooker, and Brian Goodman plays Arthur Tomlinson.

Fatal Attraction will air with two episodes on Apr. 30 on Paramount+. The remaining six episodes will be released weekly.
