Despite the fact that it's been generating mixed reactions from fans, the film reboot of Mortal Kombat is actually performing quite well at the box office and is creating all the necessary buzz it needs that would allow the Warner Bros. project to spawn a sequel. So far, things are looking promising for a potential Mortal Kombat 2 with a lot of fans hoping that they'll get to see Johnny Cage in it, a character that was excluded from the 2021 reboot.

Now, all signs seem to point at the possibility of the fan-favorite character getting included in the sequel but the question is, which actor should play the role of the charismatic Mortal Kombat fighter? WWE superstar Mike "The Miz" Mizanin has already expressed his interest in becoming part of the MK film franchise and so far, he has the backing of the game's co-creator Ed Boon.

But besides Mizanin, another actor that fans see as a potential contender for the coveted role is Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds and given the fact that he oozes confidence and charisma and is actually already no stranger to doing action films, he seems to fit the bill quite well.

Reynolds has yet to address the casting clamor from fans but I'm pretty sure he'd be willing to take on the role if given the opportunity. I gotta say though, I'm not entirely sold on the idea as it could only harm Reynolds more than it could do him good career-wise. I mean, I'm not saying he wouldn't make a good Johnny Cage but moviegoers could end up experience a level of fatigue seeing Reynolds play another goofball character on screen.
