Ewan McGregor Reveals Why He is NOT Interested in Joining the MCU

There is little doubt that people want to see Ewan McGregor in more major franchises after his return to the Star Wars Universe. However, it looks like the Obi-Wan Kenobi star is choosing his projects carefully. McGregor has just revealed that he has no plans of joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe and there's an interesting reason behind the decision.

Ewan McGregor was recently in attendance at Fan Expo Boston where he was asked if he has considered working with Marvel Studios (via Comicbook.com). The Doctor Sleep actor stated that it wasn't something he is interested in, at least not right now.

"I don't know," McGregor said. "I don't know that I want to do that. Because I love doing all different kinds of work. It's true. I love to direct. I'd like to be in the theater again."

He further stated that he is already a part of a huge franchise and is uncertain about joining another one.

"I definitely want to do this again, you know, I'm in this Star Wars world. I feel like I don't need another...I'm not looking for that anyway," McGregor said.

This might be disappointing for fans but McGregor wanted to make sure that everyone knew he isn't closing the door on the opportunity.

"I feel like I shouldn't say I wouldn't do it because in two years' time you'll be like, 'You said you were never going to do this!' But I'm not looking for it particularly," McGregor stated.

It's important to note that Ewan McGregor had already appeared in a comic book movie. He previously portrayed the villainous Roman Sionis aka Black Mask in Birds of Prey back in 2020.

Ewan McGregor is expected to return in Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2. However, the series has not yet been confirmed for a second season. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
