Roman Sionis, also known as Black Mask, will serve as the main villain for the upcoming Birds of Prey film. Fans can't wait to see Star Wars alum Ewan McGregor's take on the mask-loving character, and here's why the actor thinks Black Mask would be a great fit as Harley Quinn's enemy.

"It's just like his entitlement, his spoiledness, his need for revenge on his family for disowning him," McGregor told Nerdist with regards to the root of his character's anger. "I think that drives him." The actor thinks that it could also be the fact that Sionis' father kicked him out "for being a prick" and being "useless" and "unreliable" with business. "That feeling is fueling his venom all the time, and he lives with this great hatred that consumes him," he added.

"I think that he's an absolute control freak. He's insane when he's not in control," McGregor continued. The actor pointed out that Black Mask is "insane" when "he's not in control," which why the viewers only see him in his club, his car, or in his apartment. McGregor thinks the character is only seen in those places because he has to be "somewhere that he controls." However, Harley Quinn comes into his world, and she is "uncontrollable" as well, which drives Black Mask "mad."

"It plays into the overall misogyny and the exploration of misogyny because he puts up with her because she's Joker's girlfriend, right?" he added. The Clown Prince of Crime is "powerful" and "frightening," and now that Joker is out of the picture, McGregor says Black Mask thinks he can take her down. "And that makes him a true misogynist I think," he added.

McGregor points out that Quinn is just "trying to find her freedom," her "voice," and her "power as a woman who's no longer relying on or getting that power from her partner anymore," and it looks like Black Mask will try all means to stop her from doing so.
