Deepfake videos are getting popular by the day, mostly used for entertainment and to get some laughs. For some, this is a way to show what their idea would look like if it is actually done in a movie or project. In a new Star Wars deepfake, Ewan McGregor replaces Sir Alec Guinness as the older Obi-Wan Kenobi in A New Hope.
In the clip made by user Shamook on YouTube, McGregor plays the older version of the Jedi Master. Of course, as the fans know very well, he played a younger version of the character which makes the deepfake clip even better. It shows how much the two actors are actually alike and what it would be like if he got to play the role in another version. The video consists of different clips from the film as well as a few side by side clips of Guinness' original footage and the edited ones with McGregor's. You can check it out below:
They truly have such similar features and some fans even like the idea of McGregor playing an older Obi-Wan as well. That said, the actor will be reprising his Star Wars role once again in an upcoming Kenobi Disney+ series.
It'll be a while before the show arrives but McGregor previously revealed that they will start shooting at "the very beginning of next year." The team will work on the scripts for now, but the actor thinks that they are already "good." He has been preparing for his return by watching The Mandalorian and he can't wait to "put the cloak back on."
