Eternals: Who is Ajak and What Makes Her Extremely Important?

Three of the Eternals have been gender-swapped: one is Sprite who was stuck in the body of an eleven-year-old child and is gender fluid, another is Makkari, the speedster, and the last is Ajak, one of the most powerful Eternal in existence. In the movie, both of them were women and Ajak would be portrayed by none other than the bombshell Salma Hayek.

“The Knower” of the Eternals, Ajak is a Trojan War veteran whose strength is comparable to Thor. In the comics, he understands and speaks the language of the Celestials making him able to communicate with them making Ajak an indispensable and extremely important character as the orders of the Celestials come through her.

Considered as one of the greatest warriors to ever exist, Ajak can shoot heat and light through optical rays. Ajak was worshipped as a god by Incans and was given the name Tecumotzin where he was buried in a deep sleep in a tomb only to be awoken by Ikaris.

In the movie, it seems that they would not be following the Incan path of Ajak, Instead, she is the one who warned Ikaris about an impending doom about to arrive and that they only have seven days to save the Earth and everyone around it, or let it crumble and fall into the hands of the Deviants. She also has the power to heal and all of them seem to respect her like a mother.

Salma Hayek added her personal touch to the character, even arguing with director Chloe Zhao, to have her vision of the character translated on screen. In the end, it was worth it and it was beautifully executed that even in trailers, you see how she cares for each of the other Eternals. However, some theories say that she might be the one behind the fiasco going on.

Get to see Ajak in Eternals on November 5, 2021.
