Comic book film fans have been dying to see Kit Harington star in a superhero flick for the longest time and now, the Game of Thrones alumnus has finally joined another massive media franchise — the Marvel Cinematic Universe, that is. The timing couldn't have been better as well because the MCU is clearly expanding now that we're exploring the wonders of Phase Four.

The English star is set to breathe life into iconic Marvel character Black Knight in Marvel Studios' upcoming feature film Eternals. If you've already seen the teasers that have come out over the last couple of months, you can already tell that Harington will play a major role not only in the film but in shaping up the MCU's future as well.

Turns out, Harington has long been under the radar of one studio he chose not to disclose and while he was filming Game of Thrones, he was actually offered a role in a comic book film. Speaking with Total Film, Kit revealed that he turned down the offer but it wasn't because of his tight GOT schedule like some fans would assume and according to him, he was too attached to his role as Jon Snow at the time to even think of branching out.

He said: "I won't mention what it was, but yeah, there was one other [superhero movie] that I did turn down a while ago. It was a while ago, as well – just because it didn't feel like the right thing at the right time. And I think I was right to. My head was very in the Jon Snow world then."

I guess we'll never truly know which studio Harington had to turn down years ago and more importantly, which character was offered to him. But I gotta say, Marvel Studios certainly made the right call of casting him as Dane Whitman because of his Jon Snow past. I mean, sure, being stereotyped isn't always a good thing but I'm sure his portrayal of Black Knight will be different and he'll make it work.

Eternals is set for release on November 5, 2021.
