Ending of Red Notice Explained

Setting a Netflix record early on is Red Notice led by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Gal Gadot, and Ryan Reynolds and its interesting heists in search for the three golden eggs of Cleopatra. In a shocking turn of events, the end was something no one ever expected.

The film starts with a heist by Nolan Booth (Ryan Reynolds) in a museum leading to a chase with the FBI. Just as Booth thought he escaped, Special Agent John Hartley (Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson) of the FBI is inside his home and called him the second-best thief in the world next to Sarah Black, a.k.a. The Bishop (Gal Gadot), who is famed to be the best of all. When things went sideways, Hartley was framed and he meets Booth in prison.

They planned their escape to reach to the second egg before The Bishop does. They attend a masquerade ball of the owner of the second egg and found The Bishop there as well. Unfortunately, she bested both of them, even revealing to be close to the owner. It turns out that Booth knows where the third egg is and he bluffed The Bishop so he and Hartley could escape.

It was located at a secret bunker and still, The Bishop finds them in the same place. When the local police arrive, the three had to escape and they jumped into a waterfall. And here is where the big twist was dropped: it was all a plan!

It turns out The Bishop is two people, Hartley and Black, and they planned it to look as if it was just Black all along. All the events that happened were laid down to look like Hartley riding along with the plans of Booth when in fact, it was their plan as The Bishop. As Hartley said, there are two bishops in chess, and they left Booth tied into the forest.

However, the surprise doesn’t stop there, Booth got his comeback. He informed the FBI of the Cayman Islands account of Hartley and Black and got it frozen, and that the Interpol is about to apprehend them. Good thing, Booth secured his exit with a better idea: a new heist. The Bishop agrees and they went to Louvre for another great heist.

It seems that the end of the movie hints that it is possible for the film to have a sequel and considering the success of the first movie, it is not impossible to have one or two movies after.
