The crossover between Marvel and DC has always been a topic among fans. Even though fans have been clamoring for it, the crossover already happened back in 1976. The very first official crossover between Marvel and DC characters occurred with the jointly-published Superman vs. The Amazing Spider-Man. Since then, there have been multiple crossovers in the comics.
It has been years since those crossover comics have been printed. Tom Brevoort, a Marvel editor, stated that Marvel doesn’t consider those crossover events worthwhile anymore since it will mean they will have to share the revenue with DC. Crossovers tend to be big sellers. For instance, Marvel makes an ambitious comic book and also sold for 75% of what the crossover book could have earned, it will still be 25% more than sharing their profits with another publisher.
Despite the bleak possibility of another Marvel and DC comics crossover, fans are still hoping for a live-action crossover. Fans want the characters from both universes to team up. Marvel chief Kevin Feige stated that the idea is not on his radar but also stated he is not closing the doors for an opportunity.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson who plays Black Adam stated that he, together with Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds and Wonder Woman actress Gal Gadot can make the live-action crossover happen.
In his interview with Variety, Johnson said, “I turned to Ryan and Gal and I said there should be a crossover. We can be the ones to possibly make it happen. We'll see what happens.”
Gadot, Johnson, and Reynolds are appearing in the Netflix original movie Red Notice. It is more likely the time where the actor could have spoken to the other two to pitch this crossover idea. The Interpol-issued Red Notice is a global alert to hunt and capture the world’s most wanted. A heist brings the FBI's top profile played by Johnson together with the two rival criminals played by Gadot and Reynolds.
