The internet went absolutely berserk when rumors of Emma Watson calling it quits in the entertainment industry surfaced last February. According to reports, the actress is preparing to live a quiet life with her "soon-to-be-husband" Leo Robinton. The Daily Mail reported that the British actress' agent told them that the Harry Potter star has gone "dormant" which led a lot of fans to assume that she was formally ending her acting career. Naturally, the rumors spread like wildfire, and Emma's manager had no choice but to swoop in to debunk the rumors.
Still, despite the declaration from her camp, Emma's conspicuous silence regarding the matter convinced a lot of fans that the initial reports surrounding her career were in fact true. Now, following a nine-month social media hiatus, the Beauty and the Beast actress is finally breaking her silence to address her real status.
In a series of tweets she posted on her official Twitter page, Emma clarified right off the bat that she is not yet engaged to boyfriend Leo Robinton nor she is retiring from acting. Watson claims that reports of her retiring were only published to spark controversy. She wrote: "Dear Fans, Rumours about whether I'm engaged or not, or whether my career is "dormant or not" are ways to create clicks each time they are revealed to be true or untrue."
She also assured fans that if there's something up with her, she'll be the first person to let everyone know. Emma also confirmed that the reason for her extensive "break" is due to the pandemic and nothing more. In a subsequent tweet, she added: "In the meantime please assume no news from me just means I'm quietly spending the pandemic the way most people are - failing to make sourdough bread (!), caring for my loved ones, and doing my best not to spread a virus that is still affecting so many people."
It's nice to know that the Hermoine actress isn't going anywhere and while we still don't know what the future holds for the actress, I'm 100% positive that fans are already awaiting her return to acting. I'm guessing she just wants to give herself all the time in the world to reflect and enjoy her personal space and be away from the spotlight for just a little while before returning to the crazy world of show business full-time.
Emma Watson last appeared in the 2019 drama Little Women.
